American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Card
reviewed by Blake on 8/18/06
The American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Card is very similar to the Preferred Rewards Green Card. These cards are both solid choices for the business traveler looking to earn Membership Rewards points quickly. However, the Preferred Rewards Gold Card offers a few additional perks that make it an upgrade over its Green Card counterpart.
The Gold Card still rewards points at 1 point per dollar spent on purchases, and these points can be used on the same amazing selection of airlines, hotels, and other merchants. But here’s where the Preferred Rewards Gold Card stands head and shoulders above other reward cards - this card offers users exclusive access to tickets for some of the hottest shows, concerts, and sporting events in the country! In addition, these tickets are often made available to American Express Preferred Rewards Gold cardholders before the actual sale date. This means that you will spend less time on the waiting list, and more time at the events.
The Preferred Rewards Gold Card also gives eligible card members payment flexibility. This allows certain purchases over $200 to be paid for over time, rather than the standard in full each month. This further enhances the convenience and attractiveness of the Preferred Rewards Gold Card.
With an annual fee of $130, this card also provides members with a year end summary of charges and Global Assist Plus Hotline. All in all, this card represents a solid choice for business travelers and people who enjoy attending in-demand events.
